Events/Announcements

  • Pentecost Sunday: On Sun., May 27, we will celebrate Pentecost with a special simultaneous reading of the Gospel in as many languages as we have among the congregation’s participants.
  • Memorial Day Picnic: Dn Wayne and Mary Baumgartner invite you to their home (10838 McKean, Willis) on Mon., May 28, at 2 p.m. for food, drinks, games, and, of course, egg rolls. You are welcome to bring a side dish, dessert, or just your appetite.
  • LOVEFEST 2012: Detroit Partnership will sponsor LOVEFEST on Sat., June 16, at each of our 12 inner city congregations, bringing food, medical testing, live entertainment, and family fun to the neighborhoods served by these churches from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We need volunteers to help with music and children’s ministry at our partner church, Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (557 Benton Street, Detroit). See Dn Bill if you can help.
  • Feed the Hungry is trucking in tons of groceries for distribution at LOVEFEST. Packing of these groceries will take place on Thurs., June 14, from 3 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. at Detroit World Outreach (23803 W Chicago, Redford). Volunteers are needed for the packing. Groceries are packed in a human assembly line that involves several hours of walking. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, preferably walking shoes. Sunblock is also recommended. Dinner is provided.
  • Vanguard: Now reading Ephesians! Come join us for a heart-feeding, gift-stirring, prayer-asking kind of meeting. Fridays at 7 p.m. at the Wallaces (1655 Bracken Rd, Bloomfield Hills).
  • Our New Sound System: We give thanks to God for all of your monetary gifts, including major contributions from Christian Curtis, the Chittams, Scott Curtis and a half dozen others. We also wish to thank Jeff Sly for donating two Saturdays of work as a professional electrician and those who helped him: Larry Mattingly and Ted Tavora.
  • Restored Stained Glass: Our windows, dedicated to the memory of Charles and Christopher Dalton, have been meticulously restored and cleaned by Sunsmith Stained Glassworks.
  • Food Ministry: Our gratitude for, and God’s blessing on, all who are remembering this important ministry by donating non-perishable foods! Simply bring food and leave it by the offering box at the back of the church. We’ll take care of the rest.
  • Our Coffee Hour Coffee: The fair trade coffee we serve at Coffee Hour supports three transitional men’s homes our diocese operates in New York. There’s a new donation box on the coffee table. When we buy the coffee a large portion of our purchase price goes to support the three homes...however, any donations to the box go exclusively to direct support of the men.
  • “Welcome to Holy Redeemer” Cards: Are available in packs of 5, 10 and 15 in the Parish Hall (downstairs). Please consider taking a pack of cards...keep them in your car’s glove box, your purse, backpack, or briefcase...ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in handing them to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors or anyone who needs Jesus Christ or solid Christian fellowship. Thank you!
